“We hired Last Stop for our move from Lacombe to Cochrane. The estimate provided was accurate with our move coming in under the estimate, The move itself went very well. A team of 5 movers arrived on time and worked hard to get the job done quickly. The delivery went well with the team making sure we were completely satisfied before leaving. The only issue we had was a lack of communication as to when the team would arrive to deliver. Otherwise we are completely satisfied before leaving.”

“Moving is one of the most stressful experiences, but Last Stop Moving made it so much easier. My movers, Dave and Chol, were absolutely fantastic. They worked incredibly hard all day, and despite the physically demanding work, they remained friendly, positive, and professional from start to finish. It's not easy to maintain such a pleasant attitude while doing such tough work, and I really appreciated how respectful and courteous they were throughout the move. I also want to recognize Donte in customer service. He went above and beyond to coordinate a pickup time that fit perfectly with my apartment move-out schedule, allowing the cleaners to arrive right after the movers finished. That coordination made a huge difference and took a lot of stress off my shoulders. Donte even provided me with extra moving boxes, which was another thoughtful gesture that really helped. From beginning to end, the entire team was organized, accommodating, and genuinely cared about providing great service. I highly recommend Last Stop Moving to anyone looking for a reliable and professional moving company in Edmonton. Thank you, Dave, Chol, Donte, and the whole team for making my move such a positive experience!”

“Sami, Ezra, Brendan, Germay, Gindi were super! We had stuff going to the new location, some in storage and some moved from basement to garage. Sami confirmed where everything goes as soon as they arrived. No wasting. The crew assessed the area, placed floor mats and took care wrapping everything. They made sure the correct items were moved and placed at the right spot. I appreciate that they asked when they were unsure. Great service! Will definitely use them again!”

Morinville sits about 34 km north of downtown Edmonton, where Highway 2 meets Highway 642. From our yard in south Edmonton it is roughly 50 km by road: around the Anthony Henday, up St. Albert Trail through St. Albert, then north on Highway 2, which runs along the west edge of town. Inside Morinville, Highway 642 becomes 100 Avenue, the main street, so a downtown address can mean loading beside highway traffic; we look for a side street or lane first. A CN main line also cuts through town a few blocks south of 100 Avenue. Old Towne, downtown and most of the established districts are north of the tracks, while South Glens and the still-growing Westwinds neighbourhood are south of them, so we plan which side we load on and leave a little slack for a train at the crossing.

Our own crews and trucks — serving Morinville and the wider Edmonton metro.

Morinville was founded in 1892 by Father Jean-Baptiste Morin, a French-Canadian missionary, and it has grown into a town of more than 11,000 people at the top of the Highway 2 corridor. A Morinville move is really two jobs: the drive up from Edmonton, and a town that a rail line splits down the middle.

How Morinville is laid out

Morinville uses the T8R postal prefix, and the Town’s own planning documents describe it as a set of districts. That is a useful way to think about a moving day, because each part of town loads differently.

North of the tracks: Old Towne and downtown. The historic downtown, Cœur de Morinville, sits inside Old Towne around 100 Avenue and 100 Street, beside St. Jean-Baptiste Park and the rebuilt St. Jean Baptiste Church. Father Harnois, next door, holds the town’s main block of apartments along 100 Avenue. These are the oldest streets in town, and the main street doubles as a provincial highway, so the question is never just “how many rooms” but “where does the truck stand, and how far is the carry”.

The northeast: Sunshine Estates and Champagne. Sunshine Estates is mostly single-detached homes around Sunnydale Park, and the Champagne District is known for its own architectural look, close to Sunshine Lake and The Lakes. These are usually whole-house moves, so we size the crew and the truck to the house, not just to the furniture list.

South of the CN line: South Glens and Westwinds. South Glens is the established subdivision south of the rail line, and Westwinds is where the town is still growing. Active building means the usual new-neighbourhood questions: is the curb finished, is the boulevard soft, is a contractor’s trailer parked where our truck needs to go. We ask before the day.

In the southeast quadrant, the Hittinger, Riopel and Rivet districts are family neighbourhoods, and the Morinville Leisure Centre sits just outside the town’s eastern edge.

The run up Highway 2

Our yard is in south Edmonton, so Morinville is a longer run than most of the metro. The usual route is the Anthony Henday, then St. Albert Trail through St. Albert, then Highway 2 north. Highway 2 passes along the west side of town, and Heritage Lake sits by its junction with Highway 642, which becomes 100 Avenue as it runs into town.

Moves are billed hourly, and travel time is the round trip from our yard: about 45 minutes each way to Morinville, or about 1.5 hours of travel time in all. Because the drive is a real part of the day, we start planning from the clock: when the truck needs to leave the yard, when it reaches your door, and whether a long move makes more sense loaded one day and delivered the next. You get those answers before moving day, not on the morning.

Moving between Morinville, St. Albert and Edmonton

St. Albert is about 17 km south down Highway 2, and the Town notes that many residents commute to nearby centres for work. Moves along that corridor go both ways, out of the city to Morinville and from Morinville closer to work in St. Albert or Edmonton, and either way you get one crew from the first box to the last.

Long-distance moves from Morinville

Highway 2 is the same highway that becomes the QE2 south of Edmonton, so Calgary is down the same road once the truck is loaded. We also run long-distance moves across Alberta and into BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with a written estimate up front and our own crew loading and unloading.

Every Morinville job includes

  • A written upfront estimate you see and approve before anything is loaded.
  • Pad-wrapping on furniture and appliances as standard.
  • Trained, uniformed, insured crews: our own people in our own trucks.
  • Weekend and month-end availability, when most possession dates fall.

Call (587) 602-4858 or use the quote form above. Tell us your Morinville address, which side of the tracks you are on, and your dates, and we will plan the real job.

Moving in Morinville — FAQs

How far is Morinville from your yard?

About 50 km by road from our yard at 3104 101 St NW, by the Anthony Henday, St. Albert Trail and Highway 2. Plan on about 45 minutes of driving each way in normal traffic. We build the drive into the start time we give you instead of pretending it isn't there.

Do you charge for travel time to Morinville?

Yes. Moves are billed hourly, and travel time is the round trip from our south Edmonton yard. Morinville is about 45 minutes each way, so expect about 1.5 hours of travel time on a Morinville move.

Can you load on 100 Avenue downtown?

Inside town 100 Avenue is Highway 642 and the main street, so we would rather not park a loaded truck in its traffic lane. Tell us about any side street, back lane or parking pad near your door and we will plan the truck around it before the day.

Do you move homes in Westwinds and South Glens?

Yes. Both are south of the CN tracks, and Westwinds is still being built out, so we check the approach, curbs and where the truck can stand before moving day rather than finding out on arrival.

Can you move us from Morinville to another province?

Yes. We run long-distance moves to Calgary and across Alberta, and into BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with our own crew loading and unloading the truck.
