“We hired Last Stop for our move from Lacombe to Cochrane. The estimate provided was accurate with our move coming in under the estimate, The move itself went very well. A team of 5 movers arrived on time and worked hard to get the job done quickly. The delivery went well with the team making sure we were completely satisfied before leaving. The only issue we had was a lack of communication as to when the team would arrive to deliver. Otherwise we are completely satisfied before leaving.”

“Moving is one of the most stressful experiences, but Last Stop Moving made it so much easier. My movers, Dave and Chol, were absolutely fantastic. They worked incredibly hard all day, and despite the physically demanding work, they remained friendly, positive, and professional from start to finish. It's not easy to maintain such a pleasant attitude while doing such tough work, and I really appreciated how respectful and courteous they were throughout the move. I also want to recognize Donte in customer service. He went above and beyond to coordinate a pickup time that fit perfectly with my apartment move-out schedule, allowing the cleaners to arrive right after the movers finished. That coordination made a huge difference and took a lot of stress off my shoulders. Donte even provided me with extra moving boxes, which was another thoughtful gesture that really helped. From beginning to end, the entire team was organized, accommodating, and genuinely cared about providing great service. I highly recommend Last Stop Moving to anyone looking for a reliable and professional moving company in Edmonton. Thank you, Dave, Chol, Donte, and the whole team for making my move such a positive experience!”

“Sami, Ezra, Brendan, Germay, Gindi were super! We had stuff going to the new location, some in storage and some moved from basement to garage. Sami confirmed where everything goes as soon as they arrived. No wasting. The crew assessed the area, placed floor mats and took care wrapping everything. They made sure the correct items were moved and placed at the right spot. I appreciate that they asked when they were unsure. Great service! Will definitely use them again!”

Gibbons sits on the south bank of the Sturgeon River where Highways 28 and 28A meet, about 37 km northeast of Edmonton. From our south Edmonton yard it is roughly 55 km: around the Anthony Henday, out Manning Drive, then north on Highway 28A. The Town describes Gibbons as 15 minutes from northeast Edmonton; coming from the south side, crossing the city is the longer part of the drive. Gibbons is a small town of about 3,200 people, so a move here is less about traffic and more about the street in front of the house: the older blocks downtown around Centre Park and 50 Avenue, the Brumfit and Williams Park subdivisions, and acreages in the county around town. In winter the Town posts signs 12 hours before it plows or sweeps a street and asks for vehicles to be off it, so we check for signs before we commit to parking a truck at the curb.

Our own crews and trucks — serving Gibbons and the wider Edmonton metro.

Gibbons is named after William Reynolds Gibbons, who brought his family west from Orillia, Ontario in 1892, rode the first train from Calgary to Edmonton, and homesteaded by the Sturgeon River. The Town office stands on the site of the family’s first house. More than a century later, Gibbons is still a river-valley town of about 3,200 people, and moving here is about getting to town well and then reading the street.

Getting to Gibbons

Our yard is in south Edmonton, so the drive is the first part of every Gibbons job. We take the Anthony Henday around the city, run out Manning Drive (Highway 15), and turn north on Highway 28A into town. Highway 28 joins 28A just outside Gibbons too, which puts addresses toward Bon Accord and Redwater a short hop away once the truck is up there.

Plan on about 42 minutes each way from our yard in normal traffic. Because moves are billed hourly and travel time is the round trip, a Gibbons move carries about 1.5 hours of travel time. We build the drive into the start time and give you a realistic arrival window rather than an optimistic one.

Moving in Gibbons, street by street

Gibbons uses the T0A rural postal prefix (the Town office is T0A 1N0), and it is small enough that we can talk about it block by block.

Downtown. The older part of town sits around Centre Park and 50 Avenue, where you will find the Town office and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On the older blocks we ask about the driveway and the frontage and plan the carry before the day.

Brumfit and Williams Park. Two residential subdivisions, each with its own playground park; Brumfit Park sits right in the centre of Brumfit. For a whole-house move there, we size the crew and truck to the house rather than guessing from a room count.

Near the river valley. Echo Glen Park, with its trout pond and more than 2 km of trail along the Sturgeon River, and Riverview Park at the end of the River Valley Trail are part of what people like about living here. Mile 26 Park on 53 Avenue marks Mile 26 of the historic Athabasca Landing Trail, and the Gibbons Museum sits in Oliver Park.

Winter moves in Gibbons

Winter is where a small town can surprise you. Gibbons plows streets by priority and posts signs 12 hours before plowing or sweeping, asking for every vehicle to be off the street. A moving truck parked on a posted block is a problem for the plow and for us, so in winter we ask whether your street is signed, keep an eye on the forecast, and plan where the truck stands before the crew leaves the yard.

Moving between Gibbons and Edmonton

Highway 28A and Manning Drive make Gibbons a simple run into northeast Edmonton, and Fort Saskatchewan and St. Albert are both within easy reach for moves around the region. Whether you are moving into Gibbons, out of it, or across town, you get the same written estimate and the same crew from start to finish.

Long-distance moves from Gibbons

Highway 28 heads northeast toward Redwater and on to Cold Lake, and the Henday connects south to the QE2 for Calgary. We run long-distance moves across Alberta and into BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with our own crew loading the truck and one person to call for the whole job.

Every Gibbons job includes

  • A written upfront estimate, approved by you before we load anything.
  • Pad-wrapping on furniture and appliances, standard on every move.
  • Trained, uniformed, insured crews: our own people and our own trucks.
  • Weekend and month-end availability.

Call (587) 602-4858 or use the quote form above. Tell us your Gibbons address, whether you are in town or on an acreage, and your dates, and we will price the move you actually have.

Moving in Gibbons — FAQs

How do you get to Gibbons, and how long does it take?

We come out the Anthony Henday and Manning Drive, then north on Highway 28A. It is roughly 55 km from our yard at 3104 101 St NW, about 42 minutes in normal traffic, and we plan the start time around that drive.

Is the drive to Gibbons billed?

Yes. We bill moves by the hour, and travel time is the round trip from our south Edmonton yard. Gibbons is about 42 minutes each way, so plan on about 1.5 hours of travel time.

What if my street is signed for plowing or sweeping on moving day?

Gibbons puts up street signs 12 hours ahead and asks for vehicles to be off the street while crews plow or sweep. If you see a sign on your block, tell us. We will work out where the truck can stand, whether that is your driveway or a nearby street, before the crew arrives.

Do you move acreages around Gibbons?

Yes. Tell us what is on the property besides the house, such as a shop, garage or storage building, and what the driveway is like. That way the estimate covers the whole move and the right truck shows up.

Can you move us from Gibbons to another province?

Yes. We run long-distance moves to Calgary and across Alberta, and into BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with our own crew loading and unloading the truck.
